Description:

The MCP9808 digital temperature sensor converts temperatures between -20 ° C and+100 ° C into digital words with an accuracy of ± 0.25 ° C/± 0.5 ° C (typical/maximum). MCP9808 is equipped with user programmable registers, providing flexibility for temperature sensing applications. These registers allow users to choose settings such as shutdown or low-power mode, as well as specifications for temperature alarm window limits and critical output limits. When the temperature changes exceed the specified boundary limit, MCP9808 outputs an alarm signal. Users can choose to set the polarity of the alarm output signal to a low level effective comparator or low level effective comparator output for thermostat operation, or set it to a temperature alarm interrupt output for microprocessor based systems. The alarm output can only be configured as a critical temperature output. This sensor has an industry standard 400 kHz, 2-wire, smbus/i2c compatible serial interface, allowing up to 8 or 16 sensors to be controlled using a single serial bus (see Table 3-2 for available address codes). These functions make MCP9808 very suitable for complex multi zone temperature monitoring applications.
