MAX31865 Platinum Resistance Temperature Sensor
Product Information:
MAX31865 is a simple and easy-to-use thermistor to digital output converter optimized for use in platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs). External resistance setting RTD sensitivity, high accuracy Δ- Σ ADC converts the ratio of RTD resistance to reference resistance into a digital output. The MAX31865 input has overvoltage protection of up to ± 45V, providing configurable RTD and cable open and short circuit condition detection.
When it comes to precise temperature detection, nothing beats platinum RTDs. Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) are temperature sensors that contain a resistor that changes its value with temperature, essentially a thermistor. In this sensor, the resistor is actually a platinum strip with a resistance of 100 ohms at 0 ° C, hence the name PT100. Compared to most NTC/PTC thermistors, RTD type PTDs have higher stability and accuracy (but are also more expensive). For many years, PT100 has been used for temperature measurement in laboratories and industrial processes, and has achieved a good reputation for accuracy (better than thermocouples), repeatability, and stability. However, to obtain accuracy and accuracy from PT100 RTDs, you must use amplifiers designed specifically for reading low resistance. Even better, there is an amplifier that can automatically adjust and compensate for the resistance of the connecting line. If you are looking for an excellent RTD sensor, MAX31865 is precisely based on this demand and can be used for any 2, 3 or 4 wire PT100 RTD!
We carry various MAXIM thermocouple amplifiers, and the MAX31865 can handle all your RTD needs, even compensating for 3 or 4 wire RTDs to improve accuracy. Connect any microcontroller through SPI and read the resistance ratio of the internal ADC. We will place a 0.1% resistor of 430 Ω as a reference resistor at the interruption point. We have some sample code that will calculate the temperature based on your resistance.
Features And Advantages:
1. Support platinum resistance RTDs (PT100 to PT1000) from 100 Ω to 1k Ω (at 0 ° C);
2. Compatible with 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire sensor connections;
3. SPI compatible interface;
4.15-bit ADC resolution, with a nominal temperature resolution of 0.03125 ° C (non-linear variation with RTD);
5. Maintain a total accuracy of 0.5 ° C (0.05% of full scale) under the entire working conditions;
6 fully differential VREF inputs;
7. Conversion time: 21ms (maximum);
8. Integrated fault detection to increase system stability: (RTD open circuit, RTD short circuit to voltage outside the range or RTD component short circuit).
