DS3231 is a low-cost, high-precision I2C real-time clock (RTC) with integrated temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal. The device contains a battery input terminal, which can still maintain accurate timing when the main power supply is disconnected. The integrated crystal oscillator improves the long-term accuracy of the device and reduces the number of components in the production line. The DS3231 provides commercial and industrial temperature range, and adopts 16-pin 300mil SO package.
RTC stores the information of second, minute, hour, week, date, month and year. For months with less than 31 days, the date at the end of the month will be automatically adjusted, including the correction of leap years. The working format of the clock can be 24 hours or 12 hours with/AM/PM indication. Two configurable calendar alarm clocks and one configurable square wave output are provided. The address and data are transmitted serially via I2C bidirectional bus.
Precise, temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit is used to monitor VCC status, detect power failure, provide reset output, and automatically switch to backup power supply when necessary. In addition, the/RST monitoring pin can be used as a generator μ Manual input of P reset.
In addition to high timing accuracy, DS3231 also has some other functions, which expand the additional functions and selection range of the system host. A very accurate digital temperature sensor is integrated in the device, which can be accessed through the I2C * interface (as time). The accuracy of this temperature sensor is ± 3 ° C. On-chip control circuit can realize automatic power detection and manage power switching between main power supply and standby power supply (i.e. low-voltage battery). If the main power supply is powered down, the device can still provide accurate timing and temperature without affecting its performance. When the main power supply is re-energized or the voltage value returns to the allowable range, the on-chip reset function can be used to restart the system microprocessor.
